A 12-0 Belmont run that stretched from the end of the first half into the opening four minutes of the second half highlighted a strong final 20 minutes for the Bruins, as the FGCU men's basketball team fell, 86-63, on Saturday night in front of an Alico Arena crowd of 3,007 fans.

Currently in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Sun standings, FGCU begins a three-game homestand on Saturday night when it welcomes Belmont to Alico Arena. The Eagles will look to avenge a loss to the Bruins earlier in the season in Nashville, while improving on their 8-3 home record.

Made possible thanks to the support of Bank of America, the FGCU Department of Athletics has taken its EAGLE MATH program to 30 different schools in Lee and Collier counties in Southwest Florida since the start of the new year. With help from current FGCU student-athletes and coaches focusing on why math is both important and fun in life and in athletics, more than 3,000 second graders are participating in EAGLE MATH.

The FGCU softball team fell to Tournament host USF, 4-2, on Friday night in its opening game at the USF Tournament at the newly renovated USF Softball Stadium. The second game against No. 2 Florida was postponed till the last game on Sunday.

A penalty kick in the 12th minute proved to be the difference, as the USA Under-17 National Team was able to overcome a terrific defensive effort from the FGCU women's soccer team for a 1-0 win Friday night in a friendly match to open the Eagles' spring season.
