A 12-0 Belmont run that stretched from the end of the first half into the opening four minutes of the second half highlighted a strong final 20 minutes for the Bruins, as the FGCU men's basketball team fell, 86-63, on Saturday night in front of an Alico Arena crowd of 3,007 fans.

Currently in a tie for fourth place in the Atlantic Sun standings, FGCU begins a three-game homestand on Saturday night when it welcomes Belmont to Alico Arena. The Eagles will look to avenge a loss to the Bruins earlier in the season in Nashville, while improving on their 8-3 home record.

The FGCU softball team fell to Tournament host USF, 4-2, on Friday night in its opening game at the USF Tournament at the newly renovated USF Softball Stadium. The second game against No. 2 Florida was postponed till the last game on Sunday.

A penalty kick in the 12th minute proved to be the difference, as the USA Under-17 National Team was able to overcome a terrific defensive effort from the FGCU women's soccer team for a 1-0 win Friday night in a friendly match to open the Eagles' spring season.
