John “J.A.” Colasanti enters his first year with FGCU Athletics as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.

J.A. is a graduate of the University of Florida where he received his Bachelors in Business Management in 2009 and his Master’s in Sport Management in 2010. Additionally, while attending Florida, J.A. served as a manager for the Florida Gator Baseball team for three years providing operational support in the areas of equipment, game operations, and facility management.

After graduating from UF, Colasanti worked as an Operations Assistant within the Tampa Sports Authority (Raymond James Stadium) from 2010 until 2011. While there, his primary objective was to financially recap all stadium events and provide TSA with a structured manner for future budgeting and forecasting. On event day, he served as a Stadium Supervisor during each of the 22 annual events held there, which included NFL and NCAA football games, Monster Truck Rallies, Concerts, and International Soccer Matches.

His tenure with the Tampa Sports Authority propelled him into the role as venue manager for Sentry Event Services, Inc. While with Sentry he gained a wealth of event experience in managing a part-time staff of nearly 1,000 event employees during several small and large scale events held at most Central Florida area venues including Tropicana Field, Raymond James Stadium, the USF Sun Dome, and the Mid-Florida Credit Union (formerly Live Nation) Amphitheatre. In addition to working all of the Tampa Bay Rays, Bucs, and USF Bulls games, J.A. also played a vital role in MLB Spring Training, concerts, locally filmed movies, Presidential Debates, and the week-long 2012 Republican National Convention that was held in Tampa Bay.

J.A. was hired as FGCU's Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations due to his diverse and expansive background. In his current role he oversees the day to day equipment operations, serving as the primary facilities and operations contact for Baseball, Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Swimming and Diving, Volleyball, and Sand Volleyball. Additionally, he is responsible for the facility maintenance of Swanson Stadium as well as the Outdoor Sports Complex.

Annually J.A. will provide oversight for the successful execution of over 500 events at all of the FGCU athletic venues.

A native of Lecanto, Fla., J.A. currently resides in Fort Myers.
