Athletics Grounds Superintendent
Tommy Campbell joined the FGCU Athletics staff in July 2014.
A Fort Myers native and graduate of Bishop Verot High School, Campbell previously worked with Lee County Parks and Recreation for the past 13 years. With Lee County, he assisted in the care and maintenance of the Minnesota Twins spring training facility, Hammond Stadium. Campbell proved to be a valuable asset in his tireless efforts to keep an MLB-quality playing surface at Hammond.
Working under the leadership of some of the best groundskeeper in the United States, including the legendary George Toma, Campbell brings an extensive knowledge to FGCU to ensure the playing surfaces are maintained at a high level. At FGCU, he will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the Outdoor Sports Complex and surrounding facilities. He will ensure the fields are properly mowed, irrigated, top dressed, edged, verticut and treated for weeds, pests and diseases.
On top of his 13 years of experience, Campbell’s enthusiasm and attention to detail is second to none and works each day toward the goal of making the FGCU playing fields rival those at the professional ranks.
Campbell and his wife, Summer, have one child, Greyson (4) and reside in Fort Myers, Fla.
