Eagles Win 23-0 over Hartwick College

Fort Myers, FL – For the second night in a row the Eagles baseball team overpowered Hartwick College in all phases of the game to earn a 23-0 win. FGCU is now 31-12 on the season. The Eagles got off to a big start with a five spot in the first and another four in the second for an early 9-0 lead. The big hit in the first was a two run double off the bat of Sophomore Rene Ruiz. Getting the win for the Eagles was starter Jason Short. Short (4-3) gave up no runs on one hit threw two innings of work, while also striking out six. Leading the way for the Eagles offensively were Chris Brown and Mike Mathews. Brown finished the game 3 for 3 with two runs batted in and a triple. Mathews was 2 for 5 with six runs batted in. Both of his hits were home runs into the net past the right field fence. The Eagles (31-12) will play Saturday at Nova Southeastern starting at 7:00 pm.
