FORT MYERS, Fla. – Sophomore right-hander Jason Kiley allowed just two hits over six innings as Florida Gulf Coast University shut out Albany State 8-0 in a Division II south region baseball action at the FGCU Baseball Complex Sunday afternoon. It was third strong outing for the Eagles pitching staff, which held the previously undefeated Rams to just two runs and 11 hits in a three-game sweep over the weekend. Kiley (Palm Harbor, FL) struck out eight and only walked one batter for his first victory. Three FGCU relievers recorded four strikeouts to keep the Rams scoreless. The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third when junior Jason Louwsma (Sanford, FL) laced a two-out single to centerfield to score junior Eric Cox (Sayville, NY), who led off the inning with a double. FGCU plated three more in the fourth on a two-run single by freshman catcher Graig Smith (Venice, FL) and a sacrifice fly by senior David Cox (Sarasota, FL). The Eagles added a single run in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Senior right-hander Jordan Cambron took the loss for the Rams (4-3).
