FGCU Baseball Wins 100th Game
Tuesday, March 22, 2005
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball program and head coach Dave Tollett won the 100th game in the program’s history with a 29-5 win over Saint Rose on March 22. It is a remarkable milestone for a program in just its third season of competition. The Eagles went 35-17 in 2003 and 39-17 in 2004. Tollett, the program’s only head coach, is now 100-38 overall. FGCU celebrated its first academic year in 1997 and in July 2004 officially became a full-fledged NCAA Division II member. "To reach this level so quickly is remarkable,” said Tollett. “It is more of an accomplishment for the development of our program than a personal goal. We hope it’s just the beginning of things to come.”
