Florida Gulf Coast University baseball standout Jason Louwsma competed in the 2005 Northwoods League All-Star game Wednesday evening. The senior from Sanford, Fla. represented the Lacrosse Loggers and played third base for the South Division, going 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. He was the only player on either team to reach base three times. The North won the game 8-6. Louwsma, playing in his first season in the wood bat summer league, leads Lacrosse in batting average (.291), runs (13), hits (39), RBI (18), slugging percentage (.388) and is a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases. He is batting .306 (11-for-36) with runners in scoring position and leads the team with ten multi-hit games and had an 11 game hitting streak earlier this season. The game was held at Knute Nelson Memorial Field in Alexandria, Minnesota, home to the NWL’s Alexandria Beetles, who feature FGCU senior Jason Cooper at catcher. The Northwoods League is comprised of 12 teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ontario, Canada.
