FGCU Baseball Moves Up to No. 21 in National Poll

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team jumped to No. 21 in the first regular season NCAA Division II national poll released by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Delta State and Central Missouri State are tied for the top spot. Central Oklahoma is third, Catawba is fourth and Georgia College and State is fifth. The Eagles will face No. 5 GCSU on Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the first of three games at the Valdosta State Classic this weekend. They will face Valdosta State on Saturday and Eckerd on Sunday during the classic. The Eagles return home on February 15 to host regional foe Barry at 7 p.m. FGCU, which was No. 25 in the pre-season poll, has won its first four games this season. They are one of just three undefeated teams among this week’s top-30 ranked teams. Four teams in the south region are among the top 13 teams in the poll. Catawba is fourth, Tusculum is tied for ninth, Florida Southern is 11th and Tampa is 13th in this week’s rankings.
