Eagles Win their 20th Game of the Season FORT MYERS, Fla.- The 24th ranked Eagles win earn their 20th win after falling behind early. Sophomore Derek Shaw (New Port Richey, FL) picked up his third win of the season after pitching five scoreless innings, and only allowing three hits with five strikeouts. Hillsdale Pitcher Joe Schoonover received his first lose of the season after throwing eight innings. The Eagles fell behind early in the first after the Chargers put up three runs on four hits off Sophomore starter Casey Coleman (Cape Coral, Fla.). The Eagles responded in the bottom of the second after Junior Stephen Rassel (Lake City, FL) singled through the left side to score Senior Derek Mollica (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Victor Rodriguez (Cape Coral, Fla.). The Eagles remained silent until the fifth inning, then Sophomore Richie Sowell (Madison, FL) lied down a push bunt back to the pitcher, and Stephen Rassel slide under the tag at home plate to tie the game at 3. In the eighth the Eagles took the lead and added some. The Eagles scored five runs on four hits with two Charger errors. Three Eagles had multiple hit games; sophomore Josh Upchurch 9Cape Coral, Fla.) went 2-3 with 3 RBI’’s, Junior Vinnie Scarduzio (Jupitor, Fla.) went 2-4 with an RBI, and Junior Stephen Rassel went 2-4 with 2RBI’s. The #24th ranked Eagles will head to Tampa for a three game series with the #2nd ranked University of Tampa Spartans on Friday March 23 at 7:00 pm.
