FORT MYERS, Fla. - Coming off a 17-5 rout over No. 9 Florida, the FGCU baseball team meets Kennesaw State tonight for a pivotal A-Sun conference matchup; the Eagles are currently a game and a half up on the Owls. Watch live on A-Sun TV, first pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Two Atlantic Sun’s top two squads meet in Kennesaw as the Owls host the first-place FGCU Eagles. The series features the conference’s co-leaders in wins in FGCU’s Chris Sale and Kennesaw State’s Chad Jenkins. Both have dominated of late as Sale has gone 5-0 with a save in his last six appearances with 42 strikeouts in 38.2 innings. Jenkins has put up Zach Greinke-esque numbers since April 1, allowing just one earned run in his last five starts, spanning 42.2 innings (a 0.21 ERA) with 45 strikeouts. All three games of the series can be seen on ASun.TV.

 Sale racked up his second A-Sun Pitcher of the Week accolade after he picked up the win in the second game of FGCU’s sweep of ETSU this past weekend. The sophomore from Lakeland, Fla., allowed one run on three hits going 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts. Sale had a perfect game threw four innings before the Bucs recorded a single in the fifth. The criminal justice major faced just two over the minimum as he improved his record to 7-3 on the year, tying Kennesaw State’s Chad Jenkins for the conference lead in victories.

 

The Eagles and Owls will wrap-up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
