FORT MYERS, Fla. – Following his first career complete-game shutout in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener against North Florida last Friday, sophomore right-hander Ricky Knapp (Port Charlotte, Fla./Port Charlotte HS) earned A-Sun Pitcher of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Monday morning.

Knapp’s conference-opening performance matched a career-high six strikeouts while allowing just three hits and issuing three walks in a 92-pitch complete game which lasted only an hour and 46 minutes.

Having faced three straight BCS opponents prior to the Friday night start, Knapp now owns a 3-1 record with a 1.65 ERA through five appearances, including four starts, and has held opponents to a .193 average with 17 punch outs and only four walks in 32.2 innings on the hill. Earning A-Sun All-Freshmen recognition last year, it marks Knapp’s first career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award.

The last complete-game shutout in A-Sun play for the Eagles came last season, when Sunday starter and current senior Jason Forjet (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Nova HS) kept Campbell (March 18) off the board in a 6-0 win.

The Eagles are preparing to make their second road trip of the season as they travel to Lubbock, Texas for a two-game mid-week set with Texas Tech (12-8) on March 20-21, with both contests slated for 7 p.m. starts.
