Eagles split with Robert Morris

Fort Myers - The FGCU baseball team split a pair of games today with Robert Morris College. In the first game, the Eagles were defeated 9-2, but bounced back in the second game beating RMC 12-0.

In the first game Tony Korson (1-2) took the loss as he went 4.2 innings, giving up 9 earned runs and 8 hits, while striking out 5.

Eric Jordan came in, and pitched an inning in relief surrendering just one hit, and walking two.

Offensively, the Eagles only pounded out three hits as Kip Perry went 1-for-2, Mike Howard went 1-for-3 as he scored a run, and David Alexander went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Rene Ruiz earned a RBI on the day as well.

The second game proved to be a better performance from the young Eagles.

Freshman pitcher Chris Cahill (2-1) had an outstanding performance, as he went five innings, giving up just three hits while striking out nine. Cahill now has an ERA of .96 on the season.

Pete Stelzer had his best outing of the season in relief, as he went two innings striking out one and giving up one hit.

Offensively, the Eagles pounded out nine hits as a team led by Chris Brown who went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI’s on the day. Brown also smashed two doubles on the day, and is now hitting .369.

Chad Kennedy had an impressive game as he went a perfect 3-for-3 on the day as he scored three runs, and had two RBI’s. Kennedy now boosts his average up to .318 on the season.

Jason Cooper, who hit in the three whole today answered the challenge as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s and two runs scored.

Freshman Joey Tolisano blasted his second home run on the season as he went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Kip Perry also had a solid performance as he went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.

The Eagles improve to 13-7 on the season, and will play Stone Hill College Wednesday at 4 pm (Terry Park).
