Eagles Win Second game of the day 8-1

Fort Myers, FL – After a slow start, the Eagles broke open a close game with a six run fourth inning on the way to a 8-1 victory over Teikyo Post. The Eagles got the scoring started in the bottom of the third on a RBI single by third baseman Chris Brown. Brown drove in right fielder Travis Cunningham who had walked to lead off the inning. FGCU broke the game open in the next inning. Mike Mathews and Cesar Florin led off the inning with back-to back singles. After two quick outs, the Eagles proceeded to get four consecutive singles that plated four runs and extended the lead to 5-0. They would then go on to score two more runs on a walk, an error, and two wild pitches. By the end of the inning the Eagles had batted around and opened their lead to 7-0. Getting the win for the Eagles was reliever Troy Beall. Beall (2-1) came in to work three and two third innings and gave up one run on three hits while striking out four. Taking the loss for Teikyo Post was starter Ryan Gannon. Gannon pitched three and two thirds innings and gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits. Offensively the Eagles were led by Senior third baseman Chris Brown. Brown had another great game going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in. The Eagles (22-10) will play a doubleheader Saturday vs. Shawnee State starting at 4:00 pm.
