FGCU Baseball Ranked No. 14 in NCBWA Poll
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team is ranked No. 14 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II poll released today.
The Eagles went 2-2 last week, losing a one-run game to Lynn University before taking two of three games against Barry University over the weekend to improve to 34-12 on the season.
NCBWA also ranks FGCU third in the south region behind Florida Southern College and the University of Tampa. The Eagles are 20-11 against south region competition. In addition, four of the Eagles non-regional opponents are in the top-10 of their respective regions.
Central Missouri State (38-3) remains No. 1 in the NCBWA poll, followed by Delta State (39-4), Florida Southern (34-7), North Florida (32-11) and Mesa State (35-9).
Sixth-ranked Cal-State Chico, (29-8-1), Abilene Christian (35-12), USC-Aiken (34-11), Tampa (32-11) and West Alabama (25-12) round out this week’s top ten.
The next national poll will be released on Tuesday, April 26.
The NCAA will release the first Division II South Regional rankings on Wednesday, April 27.
