FGCU Baseball Ranked No. 17 in NCBWA Poll
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team is ranked No. 17 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II poll released yesterday.
FGCU (35-12) dropped three spots after a 1-2 week. The Eagles are also ranked fourth in the NCBWA South Region poll behind Florida Southern, Rollins and South Atlantic Conference champion Tusculum. Three of FGCU opponents are among the top 25 teams in the country. The Eagles have played 10 teams ranked in the top-10 of their respective regions this week.
Delta State (43-5) jumps past Central Missouri State (38-3) for the No. 1 in the NCBWA poll, followed by third ranked Florida Southern (34-7), North Florida (36-11) and Mesa State (37-11).
Abilene Christian (38-13) is now sixth. Rollins (33-14), who hosts FGCU in a three-game series this week, moved up six spots to seventh. Central Oklahoma (38-12), Tusculum (40-13), and Francis Marion (34-14-1)round out the national top 10.
The next national poll will be released on Tuesday, May 3.
The NCAA will release the first Division II South Regional rankings on Wednesday, April 27.
