Baseball Ends Season with 4-1 Loss To Florida Southern

TAMPA, Fla., - FGCU ended their season with a 2-1 loss to Florida Southern in NCAA Division II South Regional action. FGCU finished the season with a 40-17 record in their final campaign in Division II.

The Eagles scored first in the third inning. Jason Peacock (Bartow, Fla.) drew a one-out walk and later scored on a Stephen Rassel (Lake City, Fla.) sac fly after FGCU loaded the bases with one out. The Mocs answered with a run in their half of the third and added the go-ahead run in the fifth. In the bottom of the eighth, Southern added a pair of insurance, taking a 4-1 lead and wrapping up the scoring.

Jason Kiley (Palm Harbor, Fla.) suffered the loss in his final outing at FGCU, striking out five batters and scattering eight hits in 7.1 innings of action. Paul Fibbe went 2-for-3 for the Eagles.

FGCU will compete next season as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in NCAA Division I. The Eagles return seven starters from this season's team.
