Baseball Summer League Update

FORT MYERS, Fla., - Josh Upchurch, Jason Peacock, Paul Fibbe and Ozzie Borrell were all named to all-star teams in their respective summer league teams. Three of the four players were named starters to their all-star games.

Upchurch (Cape Coral, Fla.) leads the Alexandria Beetles of the Northwoods League in runs and stolen bases. Upchurch went 0-for-2 in the All-Star game but remains one of the top players in the league. Upchurch is 3rd in the league in stolen bases with 21, 8th in batting average (.329), and 6th in runs scored (26).

Peacock (Bartow, Fla.) and Fibbe (Jacksonville, Fla.) were both named to the Florida Collegiate Summer League All-Star team representing the Leesburg Lightning. Peacock competed in the homerun derby and batted 4th in the All-Star game, going 1-for-2. Fibbe went 0-for-2 for the Red All-Stars. Peacock is batting .284 for the Lightning while Fibbe is hitting .246.

Borrell (Hialeah, Fla.) will receive the starting nod at third base in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Borrell’s North Adams SteepleCats are hosting the game on July 22. Borrell leads the SteepleCats with 17 RBI and is second in the NECBL with four triples on the year.
