FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU head baseball coach Dave Tollett announced the 2008 schedule today. The schedule features 25 home games including five Atlantic Sun series.

The Eagles will make trips to perennial powers Miami and Florida as well as trips to in-state foes USF, UCF, FIU and Florida Atlantic. USF, UCF, FAU and FIU will all play games at Swanson Stadium and FGCU will return the visit. FGCU will travel to Gainesville for three games this season and one at Miami.

The Eagles open with 11 of their first 13 games at home including the conference opening series against UNF beginning on March 1. FGCU also gets conference rivals Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Belmont and East Tennessee State at home.

FGCU will visit Kennesaw State, Campbell, Lipscomb, Jacksonville, Stetson and USC-Upstate this season.

“This is a very challenging schedule in our first year in Division I,” said Tollett. “We have a lot of road games this year. We have three straight road series in conference play and have Florida mixed in there as well.”

The Eagles return seven starters from last season’s 40-17 team and also returns five of their top seven pitchers from a year ago as well.
