MIAMI- Ozzie Borrell (Hialeah, Fla.) helped spark a 13-1 route of Florida International by going 5-for-6 with a pair of doubles, a homerun and four RBI while Pete Woodworth (St. Petersburg, Fla.) picked up the win, going 7.0 innings with six strikeouts.
FGCU took a 4-0 lead in the fourth. Vinnie Scarduzio (Jupiter, Fla.) led off with a single and scored on a double by Paul Fibbe (Jacksonville, Fla.). Casey Coleman (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Stephen Wickens (Whitby, Ontario) followed with singles before a sacrifice fly by Josh Upchurch (Cape Coral, Fla.). The Eagles would bat around in the inning.
The Eagles would continue to add to the lead, getting homers by Borrell, Coleman and Upchurch as they pounded out 18 hits while scoring 13 runs. Upchurch was 3-for-4 with a two-run blast as well as a stolen base. Coleman was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and his first homerun of the season. Scarduzio and Wickens were each 2-for-5 on the night as well.
