FT. MYERS, Fla. - Sophomore D.J. Bissell (Longwood, Fla.) hit a fourth inning grand slam to lead the Eagles to a 9-2 victory over Fairfield at Swanson Stadium on Wednesday night. The Eagles have now won five consecutive games to improve their record to 8-1, continuing their best start in school history. With the lose the Stags fall to 2-5 on the season.
Freshman Craig Crumbly (Lakeland, Fla.) picked up his first collegiate win throwing five shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks, while striking out eight.
Bissell’s fourth inning grand slam was his only hit as he went 1-5 with a run scored to go along with his four RBI’s. Junior Josh Upchurch (Cape Coral, Fla.) was 2-4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored. Senior Jason Peacock (Bartow, Fla.) continued his hot hitting going 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored, while freshman Stephen Wickens (Whitby, Ontario) was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow night at Swanson Stadium when the host Bowling Green State University at 6 P.M.
