FORT MYERS, Fla., - Jason Peacock has been named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List and Richard Bleier has been named to the Roger Clemens Award Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
Peacock, a Bartow, Fla., native, is leading the Atlantic Sun in batting average and on base percentage. He also is among the top 10 in NCAA Division I in both of those categories. He is batting .443 with a .534 on base percentage. Peacock is among the A-Sun leaders in nearly every offensive category and is one of the most reliable first basemen with a .998 fielding percentage in 417 chances.
The Wallace Award is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player and will be nationally televised on Fox College Sports. The selection committee will narrow the “Wallace Watch” throughout the remainder of the season and the three Wallace Award finalists will be announced following NCAA Super Regional play.
Bleier, a junior from Davie, Fla., has been named to the Clemens Award Watch list which goes to college baseball’s Pitcher of the Year. Bleier leads the A-Sun in ERA at 1.89 and has a perfect 6-0 record on the season. He has tossed a league-high 76.0 innings and fanned 69 batters while walking just 14. Opponents are hitting just .227 against him. 10 semifinalists for the award will be announced on Thursday, May 17.
