FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU baseball team completed a three-game sweep of ETSU with a 15-2 win. The Eagles improve to 36-13 overall and 24-6 in the Atlantic Sun while the Bucs fall to 18-35 and 9-21.
The Eagles put together a two out rally in the bottom of the first as Jason Peacock (Bartow, Fla.) singled and Ozzie Borrell (Hialeah, Fla.) followed. Stephen Rassel (Lake City, Fla.) drove in those two with a double. Vinnie Scarduzio (Jupiter, Fla.) doubled to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles surrendered a pair of runs in the third, but responded with three more in their half of the inning. Scarduzio continued his hot streak with a two-run homer to open up a 5-2 lead. The Eagles tacked on one more run in the inning. FGCU also added four more in the fourth and tacked on five more in the seventh.
FGCU scored 15 runs on a season-high 15 hits. Casey Coleman (Cape Coral, Fla.) also turned in a solid effort on the mound. He struck out five batters in 6.0 innings to improve to 6-3 on the year. Ben Andrews picked up the loss, going 3.0 innings as he fell to 4-4 on the season. Ozzie Borrell had his third five-hit game of the year as he was 5-5 with three RBI and his sixth homer of the season. Vinnie Scarduzio was 4-5 with his eighth homer of the year. He hit .643 with three homers and eight RBI in the series against ETSU.
The Eagles will play their final home game of the season on Tuesday when they host Florida Atlantic at 6:00 pm in Swanson Stadium.
