FORT MYERS, Fla., - Josh Upchurch and Patrick Nathanson each received postseason honors in their respective summer leagues.
After two seasons in the Northwoods League , Upchurch re-wrote the Alexandria Beetles record book. He swiped 66 bags, easily shattering the previous record for stolen bases of 29. He led the Beetles in runs, stolen bases and hits this season and was the only two-time selection on the 25 member 2008 Northwoods Postseason All-Star team. He also became the career leader in runs scored with 79 over his two year career.
Nathanson was named top pitcher on the Winter Park Diamond Dogs top pitcher. He posted a 1.53 ERA and limited opponents to a .157 batting average. He also struck out 32 batters in 35.1 innings of work. He went 5-1 in nine appearances with six starts.
The Eagles had eight other players appear in summer leagues following their 2008 Atlantic Sun championship season. FGCU athletes appeared on six All-Star teams during summer league play.
