Baseball Travels to FSU for Two-Game Series

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University Baseball team travels to Tallahassee for a two-game, mid-week series at No. 17 Florida State beginning Tuesday, March 24. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. Tuesday's game will air live on FSN Florida, while Wednesday' game can be seen on ACC Select, and live stats will also be available for both games, just CLICK HERE.

This will be the first meeting between the Eagles and the Seminoles. The Eagles enter this week coming off a tough series with A-Sun foe Jacksonville. The Eagles lost 2-out-of-3 with the Dolphins. The Eagles 13-8 (7-2 A-Sun) now sit in second place in the A-Sun, one game behind Lipscomb. Josh Upchurch recorded eight hits in the weekend series, and drove in one run. Stephen Wickens continued his outstanding season batting .462 with six hits, and three runs scored. Zach Maxfield drove in two runs and hits his fourth home run of the season, and Tim Roberson leads the A-Sun in RBI with 32 and home runs with eight.

Florida State enters the mid-week series after taking two-of-three from Clemson. The Seminoles rank third in the ACC with 11-8 overall record and 3-4 in the ACC. The Seminoles sit fourth in the ACC in hitting, batting .327 as a team with 144 runs scored and 20 home runs. Versus Clemson, In a back and forth contest that featured two ties and five lead changes, the last lead on Sunday belonged to the Seminoles as Mike McGee launched a walk-off, three-run blast in the bottom of the ninth to give 17th-ranked Florida State a 7-4 victory over 16th-ranked Clemson The win secured the first ACC series victory for Florida State in 2009, while bringing the Seminoles within a game of Boston College for the Atlantic Division lead.
