FORT MYERS, Fla. - Chris Sale baffled Belmont bats to earn the Pitcher of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
Sale squared his record at 3-3 by picking up the Eagles’ only win last week, recording a win against Belmont. Against the Bruins, the sophomore from Lakeland, Fla., retired the first eight Bruin hitters before they put a hit on the board in the third inning with two out. Sale went on to throw eight innings, allowed only one earned run, and struck out 12 Bruins as the Eagles took game two of the weekend series, 15-7. For the week, the criminal justice posted a 1-1 record, a 2.00 ERA, threw nine full innings, and struck out 12 batters. With the 12 punch outs, he moved into second place in the conference with 53, six behind the lead of Lipscomb’s Rex Brothers.
