Crushers Pick up Former Eagle Jason Peacock
Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers have filled a gap in their infield by picking up fomerr FGCU first baseman Jason Peacock.
Jason Peacock was drafted in the 26th round by the Florida Marlins organization in 2008. As a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University, the first baseman put up great stats with a .289 batting average and 26 hits in 27 games played. His performance earned him his school’s Male Athlete of the Year award and Atlantic Sun Player of the Year honors.
“Jason has had solid numbers throughout his career,” said Field Manager John Massarelli. “His bat will win him a job.”
The Lake Erie Crushers are the newest expansion team in the Frontier League, an independent professional league with 12 teams throughout the Midwest. The team will open its Inaugural Season on June 2, 2009 at All Pro Freight Stadium, the new 5,000 capacity ballpark located at the intersection of I-90 and Route 611 in Avon.
