FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU baseball team looks to clinch their second consecutive A-Sun regular season title as they host Stetson on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Admission and select concessions are only $1 for Thursday’s game.
The Eagles closed the non-conference part of their schedule last night as they traveled to FAU. After four lead changes, and 16 pitchers by both squads, the FGCU baseball team won their 34th game of the season as they scored late to win 8-7 over FAU on Tuesday night at the FAU Stadium.
The Eagles outhit the Owls 14-11 to improve their record to 34-17, and the Owls fell to 27-23 on the season. The Eagles are now 4-0 all-time against the Owls, sweeping the two-game series for the second straight year.
The Eagles host Stetson for a three-game series beginning on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Game one can be heard live on ESPN Radio 770 AM. Game two is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, and the series concludes on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Eagles only need to win one game in the series to win their second straight A-Sun regular season title. The Eagles currently sit in first place in the A-Sun and need just one win this weekend to clinch their second straight A-Sun regular season title. FGCU is currently 2.5 games ahead of Kennesaw State who plays North Florida to close out the 2009 season. All three-games can be seen on A-Sun TV.
