FGCU Baseball Receives Love From SEBaseball.com

FORT MYERS, Fla. - With just days until FGCU baseball kicks off the 2010 season, SEBaseball.com released its Southeastern 80, Non Big Three Top 25, and SE Baseball top 25, which all feature the Eagles.
FGCU comes in at No. 28 in the Southeastern 80 poll. Of the 11 Florida teams on the list, FGCU ranks fifth behind Florida State (3), Florida (5), Miami (8), and FIU (26) and is ahead of the likes of USF (36), UCF (50), FAU (51), Jacksonville (52), Stetson (56) and North Florida (60).
The Eagles are also listed as the highest-ranked A-Sun team on the list. Southeastern 80 eligibility included schools in the SEC, ACC, C-USA, Sun Belt, Atlantic Sun, Southern, Big South, CAA, OVC, and Southland. Also, five southern schools in non-southern conferences were eligible: Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Richmond, and USF.
In addition to its SE80 rankings, the Web site also ranks the Top 25 schools in the southeast outside of the SEC, ACC and Conference USA where FGCU comes in at the No. 5 spot right behind Coastal Carolina, Louisville, FIU, and Middle Tennessee.
SE Baseball also released their preseason top 25 poll. The Blue and Green picked up 89 votes in the preseason top 25, ranking them 43rd overall.
FGCU baseball will kick-off the 2010 season on Friday, Feb. 19 with a three-game series against Atlantic 10 opponent Temple. Game times are 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
