FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the season now in full swing, the FGCU baseball team would like to announce its newly launched twitter page. Eagle fans can now follow the three-time defending Atlantic Sun champs and the season on the social networking site @FGCUBaseball.

Also new this season, Eagle baseball fans will have direct access to the press box for all home games, and select away games, through the use of the Cover It Live platform. Followers will be able to chat with other fans, get clarification on plays and calls, ask questions and obtain team, player and opponent records and statistics while the game progresses, beginning with the Tuesday evening game at USF at 7 p.m.

Fans can go to to follow the team’s Twitter account. Users must create an account to join. Once logged in, fans have the choice of following other users, and they can activate their mobile devices to receive “tweets” as other users post them. Twitter is a free service that lets users keep in touch with people through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Opening the season with an eight game homestand, the Eagles went 4-4 after splitting the four-game series with Central Michigan, going 1-2 against Illinois and defeating Michigan (6-4) in a mid-week meeting. The Blue and Green opened the Atlantic Sun Conference portion of the schedule with 2-1 series victory over UNF last weekend, improving their overall record to 6-5 heading into the contest with USF.
