CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Coming off a 9-5 win over USF on Tuesday night, the FGCU baseball team will be back in action Wednesday evening when it takes on No. 29 Miami in Coral Gables. Both teams enter on winning streaks, as the Eagles have taken four straight while the Hurricanes are winners of eight in a row.
The Eagles will look to improve on their 12-9 overall mark after completing the season sweep of USF last night. FGCU pounded out its third straight game with double figure hits in the win over the Bulls led by seven extra-base knocks.
The trip to Coral Gables to take on Miami will be the first of two over the next few weeks for the Eagles, as the two teams will meet three times this year. The final clash will come at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. After starting 5-8 to open the season, Miami has put together eight straight wins to move to 13-7. With their 6-0 start to the ACC season that featured sweeps of Virginia Tech and at Wake Forest, the Hurricanes came in at No. 29 in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll. Miami has allowed just 14 runs during its eight-game streak.
