FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the third consecutive season, the FGCU baseball team will host the “Battle of the Birds” against No. 13 Miami at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Fla. Tickets for the Wednesday, Feb. 22 contest at 7 p.m. are now available at the FGCU ticket office located in Alico Arena.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Alico Arena ticket office or by phone at 239-590-7145. The FGCU ticket office is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.FGCUAthletics.com/tickets.
Adult tickets are $10 for box seats and $7 for general admission seating. Youth along with faculty and staff tickets are $7 for box seats and $4 for general admission. Groups of 10 or more receive a discount rate of $7 for box seats and $4 for general admission. Students can attend the Hammond Stadium contest for free with valid Eagle ID.
Tickets for the Hammond Stadium game are not included in the FGCU baseball season ticket package.
In last season’s contest at Hammond Stadium, the Eagles dropped the 8-1 mid-week game against the Hurricanes. The inaugural contest in 2010 also saw the Green and Blue fall to the Canes in front of a crowd of 3,627.
Hammond Stadium is the spring training home of the Minnesota Twins. The venue also hosts the Class A Advanced Fort Myers Miracle, an affiliate of the Twins organization.
The Eagles wrapped up the 2011 season with a 27-28 overall record, and narrowly missed their second straight A-Sun tournament after finishing seventh in the final standings with a 16-14 league mark. The Green and Blue welcome back 14 players from last season’s team and usher in 19 newcomers when they open the 2012 campaign at Swanson Stadium on Friday, Feb. 17 against Bethune-Cookman at 6:30 p.m. Season tickets and single-game tickets are also available at the FGCU ticket office and at www.FGCUAthletics.com/tickets.
