FGCU to Battle No. 1 Florida on Fox Sun Sports on Sunday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU baseball team is set to travel to Gainesville, Fla. for a three-game weekend series against No. 1 Florida at McKethan Stadium. Highlighting the weekend set, the series finale on Sunday will be aired live on Fox Sun Sports, channels 653 on Directv and 402 on Comcast Xfinity, beginning at 1 p.m.

FGCU heads into the weekend series with a 6-5 record, coming off a three-game set with ACC foe Boston College. The Eagles dropped the Thursday night opener, 3-0, and also fell in Friday’s game two, 11-8. The No. 1 Gators enter their Wednesday night contest with FAMU after defeating FAU, 16-1, on Tuesday evening. The nation’s top team holds an 11-1 record, with pair of victories over then-No. 16 Cal State Fullerton (7-3, 5-2), a midweek shutout over then-No. 19 UCF (8-0) and a weekend sweep of No. 8 Miami (7-5, 13-5, 8-5) last weekend. The Gators lone blemish this season came in the series finale with Fullerton, 8-5.

In the all-time series between the two schools, the Gators hold a 3-1 lead over the Eagles. Florida has been nationally ranked in the last three meetings, and FGCU’s lone victory in the series came in the form of a 17-5 win in 2009, when the Gators were ranked No. 9 in the country.
