FORT MYERS, Fla. – Following the weekend series win against Manhattan, the FGCU baseball team climbed two spots in this week’s Collegiate Baseball poll, landing at No. 23 in the media outlet’s Top 30 ranks.

It marks the second-straight week the Green and Blue appear in the poll, after ranking No. 25 by the outlet last week.

Additionally, the Eagles were named among “others to watch” by Perfect Game for the second consecutive week, and were first among those receiving votes in the latest edition of Baseball America’s Top 25, with 23 votes (26th). The Green and Blue also landed at No. 29 in the National Collegiate Basesball Writers Associaton (NCBWA) top 30 and received seven votes (33rd) in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.

FGCU rises in the rankings with an 8-3 record, coming off a series win against Manhattan last weekend. FGCU took the opening contest, 6-2, before splitting the Saturday doubleheader with the Jaspers (W 1-0, L 6-5). The Green and Blue earned the series victory with a 3-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon.

Earning the first three-game series sweep at then-No. 13 Florida since the 2009 season, the FGCU baseball team gained recognition last week from multiple national outlets. The Eagles were tabbed as high as No. 23 in the country according to Baseball America’s Top 25, while also appearing in the NCBWA Top 30 at No. 27.

The No. 23 FGCU baseball team will conclude its stretch of five games in four days, when it plays host to Big Ten foe Michigan on Monday evening at Swanson Stadium, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
