DeLAND, Fla. – Due to weather in the DeLand, Fla. area, the elimination contest between second-seeded FGCU and sixth-seeded Lipscomb has been suspended until Friday at 9:30 a.m.
The Bisons currently lead the contest 3-0, but the Eagles hold the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the second. The game will resume from this point on Friday morning.
The Eagles (37-19) dropped their opening round game against seventh-seeded Kennesaw State, 3-1, on Wednesday evening. In the first game of the day on Thursday, the Bisons fell to No. 3 North Florida, 6-1, to set up the meeting with FGCU.
FGCU holds a 12-6 all-time record against Lipscomb, after taking two of three in the regular season meeting between the schools. The Eagles shutout the Bisons, 8-0, in the opener of the series (Mar. 28) before Lipscomb leveled the set with a 5-2 game two (Mar. 29) win. The Green and Blue earned the series win with a 4-3 victory in the finale (Mar. 30).
