FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU baseball team (22-12, 7-2 Atlantic Sun) will host the second of two games at Hammond Stadium, the home of the Fort Myers Miracle and Spring Training home of the Minnesota Twins, on Tuesday, Apr. 15 when the No. 13 Florida Gators (21-12, 7-5 SEC) come to town.
This is the sixth-straight season that the Eagles have hosted at least one game in Hammond Stadium and the pair of games will bring the total number of FGCU games played there to ten. The Green and Blue played three games there during their inaugural season in 2003, returned in 2009 for a game with Florida and have played one game there every year since against either Miami (Fla.) or Florida.
The FGCU baseball team saw a seven-game win streak come to an end in extra innings in the first outing at Hammond Stadium this season when the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes put up three runs in the top of the 10th after shutting down the Eagles in the bottom of the ninth with runners in scoring position, ultimately winning the game 5-2.
The Eagles have already split a two-game set with the Gators in Gainesville earlier this season. Since losing to Florida on Mar. 1 and falling to 6-7, the Green and Blue have won 16 of 21 games without dropping a series.
Moe’s Southwest Grill, Four Points by Sheraton and the Naples/Fort Myers Greyhound Track will serve as the primary sponsors for both events.

The top eight teams in the standings at the end of the regular season will advance to the championship and compete in a double-elimination style tournament to determine the A-Sun’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
