The FGCU baseball team (27-15, 11-4 Atlantic Sun) came up with a clutch inning when it needed it most, scoring four runs in a tie game in the top of the ninth to put away South Florida (22-18, 8-7 American) and come away with a 5-3 win on Tuesday night in Tampa.

The FGCU baseball team (26-15, 11-4 Atlantic Sun) will take a brief break from A-Sun play to visit South Florida (22-17, 8-7 American) on Tuesday afternoon for a rematch of an early season tilt that took place at Swanson Stadium. The Bulls came away with a 5-1 victory that day to move to 4-0 at the time.

The win completes a season-long nine-game road swing during which the Eagles went 6-3, including a 5-1 start to A-Sun play.

The FGCU baseball team is ranked 38th in the nation, according to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper pre-season poll, released earlier today. Of the 40 teams ranked, the Eagles are the only representative from the Atlantic Sun conference.

Former FGCU pitcher Casey Coleman has been called up by the Class A Peoria Chiefs to start Monday night's game against Fort Wayne. Coleman was 1-1 with the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League before being promoted to the Cubs Class A team. The Chiefs are managed by legendary Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sanberg. The Chiefs are currently atop the Midwest League standings in the second half of the season.
