FORT MYERS, Fla., Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Jason Peacock was selected by the Florida Marlins with the 778th pick in the 26th round. He becomes the third Eagle selected in the 2008 draft. The three selections marks the most FGCU players selected in one draft.

Peacock had a .434 average which was the sixth best average in league history. He was among the national leaders in batting average and on base percentage as he was in the top 10 in NCAA Division I in both categories. Peacock was one of the most feared hitters in the Atlantic Sun this season and was 1st Team All-Conference selection in addition to being named Player of the Year. 

Through the 26th round, FGCU is the only member of the Atlantic Sun to have more than one player selected in the draft with three.
