Men's Hoops Fall to DePaul 92-60

CHICAGO, Ill., - The FGCU men’s basketball dropped a non-conference game to DePaul on Monday night. The Blue Demons even their record to 9-9 with the 92-60 win while FGCU falls to 6-13 on the year.

DePaul got on the board first and built a 5-0 lead before Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) drilled a three to bring the Eagles to within two. The hosts again built a five point lead, but back to back three’s by Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) and Rob Quaintance (Glendale, Az.) put the Eagles in front 11-10. The lead would swap hands several times over the next few minutes before DePaul went on a 7-0 run to take a 24-20 lead with 9:11 to play in the first half. With DePaul up 33-30, the hosts went on a 9-0 run to take a 12 point lead with 2:58 to play in the half and would take a 46-34 lead into the locker room.

DePaul broke open a tight game with a 15-0 run to take a 64-38 lead with 15:05 to play in the game. A pair of three’s from Will Walker gave the Blue Demons the 26 point lead. The Blue Demons used a barrage of trey’s to maintain a comfortable lead in the second half, going 8-for-18 from outside in the second half.

Draelon Burns and Will Walker led five Blue Demons in double figures. Karron Clarke added 15 points while Dar Tucker added 14 and Mac Koshwal chipped in 10.

Casey Wohlleb and Rob Quaintance led the Eagles with 13 points apiece and Landon Adler picked up his second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, his fifth on the year. Delvin Franklin (Houston, Texas) added 10 for the Eagles.

FGCU will return to conference action on Thursday night when they travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to face Campbell.
