Men's Basketball Ends Season at Marquette

MILWAUKEE, Wis., - Marquette ended FGCU’s inaugural season as a Division I member with a 67-37 loss. FGCU finished the season 10-21 overall and 6-10 in the Atlantic Sun while Marquette improves to 22-7 heading into their season finale.

The Golden Eagles opened up with a lay-up by senior Ousmane Barro. FGCU tied the score with a lay-up by Terike Barrowes (Pompano Beach, Fla.). Marquette then went on an 11-0 run, as Lazar Hayward scored eight of the 11. FGCU would cut the lead to 16-9 on a three pointer by Rob Quaintance (Glendale, Az.). With Marquette up 24-17 with just under four minutes to play in the first, Marquette went on a 6-0 run to close the half and take a 30-17 lead into the break.

FGCU went on an 8-0 run out of the break getting three’s by Quaintance and Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.). However, Marquette answered with a 10-0 run to open up a 40-25 lead and continue to add to the margin from there.

Hayward led all players with 18 points as well as 11 boards. Dominic James added 11 points and four assists while Wesley Matthews added 12.

Four Eagles scored six points, seniors Adam Liddell, Rob Quaintance, Terike Barrowes and Roman Narmbaye.
