Balza Joins National Coaches' Diary Series On College Chalktalk
|
A first of its kind, the National Coaches’ Diary Series debuted in 2009 and features over 60 Division I head coaches and assistant coaches from 24 conferences across the nation contributing monthly during the season to College Chalktalk.
Dates for the monthly entries will be released soon. Balza is one of three coaches from the A-Sun in the National Coaches’ Diary Series. Lipscomb assistant coach Jay Walton and North Florida assistant coach Jeremy Shyatt are also among the 60 participants.
The only coach in program history, Balza enters his ninth season with a record of 143-101 at the helm of FGCU. The Eagles are entering their fourth year in Division I as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. FGCU returns its top two leading scorers in redshirt sophomore Anthony Banks (Lantana, Fla./Santaluces HS) and senior Reed Baker (Naples, Fla./Bishop Verot HS/Michigan) who averaged 12.9 and 11.4 points per game, respectively. The Eagles also usher in an incoming-class that was ranked second in the A-Sun Conference by HoopScoop Online.
