FGCU Basketball Season Tickets Now Available
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Season tickets for the 2011-12 FGCU men’s and women’s basketball season went on sale Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the FGCU ticket office.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Alico Arena ticket office or by phone at 239-590-7145. The FGCU ticket office is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
Fans can reserve a season ticket with a non-refundable $50 deposit that will hold the ticket until July 1. After making the reservation, the season ticket must be paid for by July 1 or it will be released. Current season ticket holders’ seats will be held until July 1 and will be released if not renewed prior to that date. Anyone who purchases a season ticket before April 15 will get a free general admission ticket that allows them into any softball or baseball game the rest of the year, including baseball’s meeting with Miami on Wednesday, April 6 at Hammond Stadium.
Combined season tickets for both the men’s and women’s teams are also available again for a combined 50 percent discount. Season tickets for either the men’s and women’s program range from $84-$259. A combined season ticket (both teams) ranges from $126-$389.
Both programs will enter their first season of postseason eligibility in 2011-12, as the women are coming off a campaign in which they posted a 28-4 record and made their fourth straight WNIT appearance. Included in the Eagles’ 28 wins was their second Atlantic Sun regular season title after finishing 17-3 in conference action. FGCU played in front of a sellout Alico Arena crowd in the second round of the WNIT and finished with a home attendance average of 2,025 (19 games). Led by head coach Karl Smesko’s exciting brand of basketball, the Eagles currently lead the nation in three-pointers per game (10.9).
The men will be under the direction of first-year head coach Andy Enfield, who was introduced as FGCU’s second-ever men’s basketball coach on Wednesday afternoon. Enfield comes to Fort Myers after a five-year stint as an assistant coach at Florida State who advanced to the Sweet 16 this season. The Eagles return seven players that averaged at least five points per game, including A-Sun All-Conference second team selection Anthony Banks (Lantana, Fla./Santaluces HS) and All-Freshmen team choice Christophe Varidel (Versoix, Switzerland/Worcester Academy).
