Tuesday, January 17, 2012

FORT MYERS, Fla. – First-year FGCU men’s basketball head coach Andy Enfield and women’s basketball head coach Karl Smesko will sit down with host Tom James on Wednesday, Jan. 18, for the third rendition of the FGCU Coaches Show starting at 5:30 p.m.

The hour-long show can be heard live for free on www.FGCUATHLETICS.com via Stretch Internet. James, the voice of the Eagles, will be on the air with coach Enfield from 5:30-6:00 p.m. and they will be joined by freshman Bernard Thompson (Conyers, Ga./Rockdale County HS). Coach Smesko and redshirt sophomore Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) will be on the air with James for the final 30 minutes.

Members of the Eagles Club and their guests can attend the FGCU Coaches Show by calling Graham Diemer at 239-590-7107 or by email at gdiemer@fgcu.edu. The show will be held in the VIP Suite on the second floor of Alico Arena. Eagles Club members will get the chance to ask questions during the show. If time permits, questions emailed to Director of Sports Information Patrick Pierson, ppierson@fgcu.edu, will also be asked during the show.

Both teams are fresh off wins at Lipscomb, while the women’s victory combined with a Stetson loss put the Eagles in sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Sun at 8-0. Currently No. 4 in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll, FGCU also received votes in last week’s ESPN/USA Today poll and is currently riding an eight-game win streak (16-2).

The men finish off their stay in Nashville on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET with a showdown against the A-Sun’s first place squad Belmont (12-6, 5-1). FGCU (8-9, 4-3) is looking for its third straight A-Sun victory after rallying from 13-points down in the second half at Lipscomb en route to the 84-80 overtime win. The Eagles have put together a 5-2 record over their last seven games.
