DUNK CITY, Fla. – One magical March week, Fort Myers sky-rocketed into the national spotlight as the FGCU men's basketball team made a historic run to the NCAA’s Sweet 16. WGCU Public Media will tell the remarkable story of the 2012-13 men’s basketball team and the impact it has had and will continue to have on the university and the community in a half-hour special program scheduled to show on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Cohen Center Ballroom.

The screening will be opening to the public and autographs from the 2012-13 team will be available following the 30-minute documentary.

Dunk City: We Are FGCU was made possible with support from Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice and Purtz, PA; Jason's Deli; Becker & Poliakoff; Gulf Coast Coin & Jewelry; Orthopedic Center of Florida and Shula's Steak House.

On the men’s side, FGCU won 14 of its last 17 games to finish with a program Division I record 26 wins (26-11). The Eagles used a 13-5 A-Sun record in the regular season to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference postseason tournament before posting three consecutive double-digit wins en route to the A-Sun title and automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament in just its second year of postseason eligibility. FGCU became the first No. 15 seed in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the Sweet 16 and the first team since the 1987 Florida squad to win its first two tournament games. The Eagles opened with a second round win over No. 2 seed Georgetown and followed with a win over No. 7 seed San Diego State in the third round to earn a trip to Dallas Cowboys Stadium for the South Region semifinals.
