FGCU basketball fans of all ages will have an early look at the 2013-14 men's and women's basketball teams and also do some Trick-or-Treating with members of the squads.

Doors open at 3:30 PM and the event will run from 4-6 PM in Alico Arena.

DUNK CITY, Fla. – FGCU basketball fans of all ages will have an early look at the 2013-14 men’s and women’s basketball teams and also do some Trick-or-Treating with members of the squads when the athletic department hosts its family-friendly third-annual Hoops & Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4-6 p.m. in Alico Arena.

Fans are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best as prizes for the best costume will be awarded. Those in attendance will have a chance to meet their favorite FGCU players, cheerleaders and the Most Valuable Mascot in the Atlantic Sun, Azul, during an open autograph and picture session. Dunkin’ Donuts will provide an array of Halloween-inspired donuts during the event, Costco will supply cider and candy will be handed out by coaches, players and athletic department staff during a Trick-or-Treat tour through Alica Arena, including both teams’ locker rooms.

The schedule of events includes the women’s team scrimmaging and the men hosting a series of skills drills with children. Throughout the event the teams will showcase their talents in 3-point and dunk shows, while door prizes will also be awarded.

Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and admission is free. In addition, fans who purchased season tickets will be able to pick them up at the Alico Arena Ticket Office during the event. Additionally, mini-packs and individual game tickets may be purchased in person at the ticket office.

The event will be the last chance fans will have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the men’s and women’s teams before the regular season commences in two weeks. Last Tuesday the men held a season tip-off event at Community School in Naples, and on Friday the men and women participated in FGCU’s Midnight Madness event, Dunk City After Dark Presented by Coconut Point Ford, with portions airing nationally on ESPNU.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball home schedules will get underway Tuesday, Nov. 12, beginning with Breakfast at the Beach at 7 a.m. on ESPN2 when the men welcome Hartford as part of the ESPN 24-Hour Tip-Off Marathon. Later that same day, the women will play host to Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. The women’s team will receive their watches for winning the 2013 A-Sun Regular Season Championship during halftime of the men’s game, while the men will have their Sweet 16 banner unveiled prior to their tipoff. Then, at halftime of the women’s game, the men will ceremoniously be awarded their Sweet 16 rings.
