FORT MYERS, Fla., - The Florida Gulf Coast Men’s basketball team will be traveling up north again for the third time this season to compete against the Blue Demons of DePaul University. The meeting will take place at DePaul’s Allstate Arena in Chicago on January 21, 2008. The contest will be a nice break for both teams right in the heat of very tough conference play. The Blue Demons come in with a record of 8-9 (4-2 in the Big East Conference); while the Eagle are 6-12 (2-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference) and looking for a boost to their seven day road trip with a win at DePaul.

DePaul is coming off a big win Saturday beating Rutgers in a close game 75-73. Draelon Burns led the Blue Demons with 20 points and freshman Dar Tucker scored all 12 of his points in the second half. That win puts DePaul third in the Big East behind Cincinnati and Georgetown.

Florida Gulf Coast earned a much needed win Saturday night against Kennesaw State with a great balanced scoring effort and tenacious defense defeating the owls 85-73. Senior Casey Wohelleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) led all scorers with 19, but the FGCU faithful really went wild when junior Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) came in off the bench and recorded his 4th double-double of the year scoring 14 points and ripping down 14 rebounds in only 18 minutes of action. Delvin Franklin (Houston, Texas) added a career-high 17 points while Terieke Barrowes and Roman Narmbaye each scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points apiece.

Monday’s game should be an exciting but tough battle for the Eagles, DePaul is a fast up-tempo style team which FGCU will try to slow down with their changing defenses but may also find success of their own in fast break offense. The Blue Demons are 5-0 when they shoot over 50.0% from the field.

Sports radio 770 am will carry the game live as Dave Moulton calls the action. The game can also be heard on www.sportsradio770.com. Tip off is scheduled for 8:30 pm. Following the DePaul game, FGCU will return to conference action when they take on Campbell on Thursday.
