FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU saw a three-game conference winning streak snapped with a 70-56 loss to Lipscomb on Thursday night. With the lose the Eagles fall to 8-14 (4-4 A-Sun) while the Bisons move to 9-13 (3-5 A-Sun).
Lipscomb guard Michael Lusk led all scorers with 16 and added seven rebounds, while LaKory Daniels and Eddie Ard each chipped in 14 points apiece.
Junior forward Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) led the way for the Eagles by recording his sixth double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Junior guard Delvin Franklin (Houston, Texas) tallied 12 points on 4-8 shooting.
The Bisons got off to a quick start, going on a 13-0 run seven minutes into the game to build a 20-6 lead. But the Eagles would continue to battle and with an Adler 3-pointer with under two minutes left in the half, the Lipscomb lead was just three, 31-28. But an 8-0 run late in the half by the Bisons would give them a 36-28 halftime lead.
Lipscomb picked up where they left off to start the second half, going on a quick 7-2 run to build a 15 point advantage. The Bisons lead would go as high as 20 and the Eagles were never able to get within 12 in the second half. Lipscomb would shoot 45.5% from behind the arc to answer any FGCU momentum.
The Eagles travel to Nashville, Tenn., to battle A-Sun opponent Belmont this Saturday. The Eagles return home on February 8th when they face off against East Tennessee State at 7:00 P.M.
