Spots Still Open for Men's Basketball Camps

FORT MYERS, Fla. – There are still spots open for this summer’s FGCU Basketball Camps. The Skills Day Camp, which runs from June 8-11, still has day camping spots available. The Team Camp running from June 12-14 and the Overnight Camp on June 15-18 still have spots available.

The Skills Day Camp will be held at Alico Arena from June 8-11 starting at 1:00 pm daily. The camp runs five hours and is designed as a mini-version of the overnight camp. All campers receive a t-shirt and breakdown skill instruction in the art of shooting, passing, ball handling and individual/team defense.

• Camp is designed for all boys who will be entering grades 3 thru 8 in the fall of 2009.
• The camp runs daily from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. (Note that camp starts after school!)
• Campers are split into age and skill-appropriate groups.
• Instruction provided for skill levels, beginners thru advanced.
• Campers must bring their own lunch.
• Cost is $250 per camper.
• Check-In Monday is at 12:30 pm.

The Team Camp will be held at Alico Arena from June 12-14. The FGCU Boys Basketball Team Camps are designed to give high school teams from across the state an opportunity to compete with one another in a structured basketball environment. The expectation is to provide teams with high quality play against teams that they may not otherwise face. Furthermore, the coaching staff wants to provide for more than just another opportunity to play games. The camp is seen as a weekend learning device for coaches & players.

• Cost is $450 per team for the camp.
• A $100 non-refundable deposit is required for each team to hold your spot. Space is limited.
• Included in the cost are all games, officiating, scoring, video, practice court time, lectures, and camp t-shirts for the teams. • Teams are responsible for their own lodging and meals. A list of area hotels and restaurants is available from the basketball office.

The Overnight Camp will be held at Alico Arena from June 15-18. Registration and move-in begin at 7:45 am. Camp starts at 9:30 am on Monday. Awards Ceremony and Pick-up are on Thursday at 4:00 pm.

• Daily camp hours are 7:30 am - 8:30 pm.
• Camp is designed for all boys who will be entering grades 5 thru 12 in the fall of 2008.
• Participants will be divided into separate age groups. All campers receive an official Eagles jersey, basketball and camper evaluation form.
• Supervised overnight lodging is included in
• FGCU’s on-campus, air-conditioned housing units. Each camper is housed in a 4-bedroom suite. *Please note suite-mate preference on application form. (4 per suite; You plus 3 others)
• All meals included and are eaten on-campus.
• Commuter campers welcome (Lunch/Dinner only).
• What to bring: T-shirts, shorts, socks, basketball shoes, towels, soap, bed sheets, blanket, pillow, alarm clock, swimsuit and money for camp store.
• Cost is $450 for overnight campers, $400 for daily commuters. (Commuter Hours: 9:00am-7:45pm)
