FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the anticipation of the start of the 2012-13 season building, the FGCU men’s basketball team will play a preseason Green/Blue game at the Community School in Naples on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Admission to the event is free.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with FGCU cheerleaders and Azul the Eagle greeting fans. Player introductions will begin at roughly 6:40 p.m. followed by a small warmup leading into the 7 p.m. game.

The teams will play four, seven-minute quarters with giveaways and interviews during each break. Halftime will feature a fan three-point contest in which all fans are eligible after receiving a ticket upon entrance. At the end of the third quarter, a fan will be chosen for a chance to win $500 in cash sponsored by Elevation Burger.

Following the game, the players and coaching staff will sign the 2012-13 team poster that will be released to the public for the first time that night. Pictures from the event will be available on the team’s Facebook page (@FGCUMBB) or on Instagram (@FGCU_MBB).

Coming off an Atlantic Sun Championship game appearance in its first year of postseason eligibility under head coach Andy Enfield, the Eagles officially opened practice for the 2012-13 campaign on Friday, Oct. 12.

With eight returning letterwinners, including all five starters, highlighted by 2012 A-Sun All-Conference second team honoree Sherwood Brown (Orlando, Fla./Olympia HS), FGCU returns 85 percent of its scoring, 84 percent of its rebounding and 92 percent of its assists from the 2011-12 squad that won a program Division I record 15 games and became just the sixth team in the 33-year history of the A-Sun Tournament to advance to the title game in its first try.

FGCU season tickets can be purchased in person at the Alico Arena ticket office or by phone at 239-590-7145. The FGCU ticket office is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday. Combined season tickets for both the men’s and women’s teams are available again for a combined 50 percent discount. Season tickets for either the men’s and women’s program range from $99-$279, while a combined season ticket (both teams) ranges from $149-$419 depending on the seat location and whether or not an individual is a renewal or new purchaser.

The Eagles will open their home 2012-13 slate on Tuesday, Nov. 13 when they welcome in ACC member and in-state foe Miami. Tickets for the 7:05 p.m. tip and expected first-ever men’s basketball sellout in Alico Arena are going fast, so call 239-590-7145 to get your seats.
