FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU men’s basketball senior Sherwood Brown (Orlando, Fla./Olympia HS) was named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week by College Sports Madness on Tuesday night.
It marks the second time in Brown’s career that he has won the award with the other occurrence happening on January 17, 2012.
The Eagles played in three games last week finishing with a 2-1 record as both wins came at Alico Arena over Miami and Ave Maria. Two of FGCU’s three opponents last week were receiving votes in the AP Top 25 Poll, including No. 9 Duke.
During the three-game stretch, Brown scored in double figures in all three contests, averaging 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in 33 minutes per game. Brown has now scored in double figures in all four games this season and eight of his last nine games overall dating back to last year.
Brown is currently ranked in the top 10 in the A-Sun in scoring (10th) and rebounding (T-10th). In his junior campaign, Brown was one of only two players in the A-Sun who accomplished that same feat for the entire season, joining A-Sun Player of the Year Torrey Craig from USC Upstate.

The Eagles will now host a four-team tournament that is part of the Battle 4 Atlantis that begins on Wednesday and concludes on Thanksgiving night.
