FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the halfway point of the A-Sun season approaching, the FGCU Coaches Show returns on Wednesday, Jan. 23, as men’s head coach Andy Enfield and women’s head coach Karl Smesko will sit down with host Bill Banfield starting at 5:30 p.m.

The hour-long show can be heard live for free on www.FGCUATHLETICS.com via Stretch Internet. Banfield will be on the air with coach Enfield from 5:30-6:00 p.m. and they will be joined by senior Sherwood Brown (Orlando, Fla./Olympia HS) for the final five minutes of the segment. Coach Smesko and junior Sarah Hansen (McKean, Pa./General McLane HS) will be on the air with Banfield for the final 30 minutes.

Members of the Eagles Club and their guests can attend the FGCU Coaches Show by calling Graham Diemer at 239-590-7107 or by email at gdiemer@fgcu.edu. The show will be held in the Hospitality Suite on the second floor of Alico Arena. Eagles Club members will get the chance to ask questions during the show. If time permits, questions emailed to Assistant A.D. for Communications Patrick Pierson (ppierson@fgcu.edu) will also be asked during the show.

FGCU leads the A-Sun in wins on both the men’s (13-8) and women’s side (14-5), totaling a combined 27 victories. The men sit in fourth place in the A-Sun standings at 5-3 heading into Friday night’s home showdown with first place Stetson (6-2) that will be televised on Comcast Sports South (CSS). The women are riding a 25-game A-Sun win streak and sit in a tie for first place with Stetson at 7-0. The two teams will meet for sole possession of first on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Alico Arena with tip set for 7:05 p.m.

The duo of Brown and Hansen has a combined 2,002 career points and are enjoying career seasons. Behind the strength of a program record four straight double-doubles, Brown leads FGCU in both scoring (15.1) and rebounding (6.1) – figures that both rank in the top 10 in the A-Sun – and is just 15 points and 25 rebounds away from becoming the first player to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Hansen, who currently ranks third in the FGCU record books with 1,217 career points, leads the A-Sun in scoring (17.5 points) and is fifth in rebounding (8.1). The McKean, Pa. native and reigning College Sports Madness A-Sun Player of the Week has led the Eagles in scoring on 12 occasions and recorded six double-doubles this season.
